UN goals

Any way of coming together with the other needs a true common set of values. The illusion that it exists in relation to the social becoming is false.

About Galeria Plan B

Galeria Plan B was founded in 2005 by Mihai Pop and Adrian Ghenie in Cluj, Romania. In 2008, joined by Mihaela Lutea, Plan B opened a second space in Berlin, Germany.

The artist-run gallery in its beginnings opened as a response to the lack of public resources supporting art spaces in Romania and the continuous search of alternative solutions, hence the name – Plan B. The gallery has since then developed a model of operations which combines a dynamic international exhibition program with an institutionally focused research platform of the Romanian art of the last decades, giving exposure to previously lesser-known names of the Romanian art scene.

“Always reconsidering [their] program, negotiating between old and new realities,” Plan B represents mostly Romanian artists, although not exclusively. They bring together artists working with different media and genres – from neo-conceptual artists like Ciprian Muresan, to painters like Serban Savu.

Plan B and their artists have authenticity, and strong engagement with a range of contemporary issues at their core. In 2007, the gallery organized the Romanian Pavilion at the 52nd Venice Biennale, and in 2015 Mihai Pop curated the Romanian Pavilion at the 56nd Venice Biennale, showcasing Adrian Ghenie.
