About this artwork
As if foraging through the aftermath of a catastrophe that left a city in shambles, four men are getting busy on a mound of earth, from which pieces of a big pipe emerge. As some of them probably discuss the best manner to proceed, one man wearing a blue tank top welds a part of the pipe. This whole scene evokes a sense of unease, as we see the ruins of what looks like a Greek statue, lying in the muddy water below. What kind of post-apocalyptic scene are we witnessing here? In today’s climate, where most conflicts find their roots in disputes for energy sources, we can look at Șerban Savu’s work as hopeful in the dawn of a new era, where humans come together to build a better tomorrow, founded on renewability and environmental respect.
