The main question that drives me, is fundamentally motivated by many attempts to elaborate one distinct thing - Is it possible to deliver something valuable from the present to eternity?
Biography
Amir Nave’s stark creations are manifestations of an interior world dominated by sombre emotions. Decay, loneliness and despair are but a few examples of what the artist explores through a variety of mediums that go from drawing, to painting and the creation of objects on cardboard. Rejecting any type of frame and by this not limiting his work to a contrived shape, he gives total liberty to his hands. The human body is center stage in his work, but he ambitions to go further by exploring transcending themes like time, space, seclusion, power relations and what he likes to call “the pain of consciousness”.
At the junction of abstraction and form, his work recalls Cy Twombly’s chaotic and brutal canvases which examines destruction and void. Although at first glance disorganized, reconstruction ensues from this first stage letting slip a beam of hope in a rather bleak horizon.
His grotesque imagery brings him closer to Chaïm Soutine’s paintings, both sharing a deep love for flesh and its unfathomable hues.
