About this artwork

An image which can be considered both abstract and figurative is created with a combination of a graphite pencil and oil paints and resembles an animal carcass. “Shelamim” is usually translated to English as peace-offering, but it’s meaning also includes peace, wholeness, and completeness. This intricate painting, as the name suggests, shows the peaceful sacrifice rooted in the Jewish tradition and which was also a popular motif throughout the history of art.
Amir Nave started with the drawings and then transitioned to oil painting. But one can feel the strong presence of a line in his paintings. Amir Nave’s artworks show the motion of the artist's hand and are examples of a great sensitivity to color and a balanced and perfectly thought-out composition. His works are full of underlying meaning, and his characteristic figures address the emotions and speak through them.
