About this artwork
Andrey Bogush’s endless project Proposals, created in 2015, captures images in their transition state when they already are in a new condition but the works are not fulfilled and they remain to be proposals for something different. The artist counterposes the static character of their photograph and painting to the transformation embodied in printed proposals; they question the difference between ideas incarnated on the surface and the ones that are put in the core of the thing.
Andrey Bogush probes the unstable nature of image production by transferring digital images onto various analogue materials. Often taking photographs from their personal archive and from resources online, they develop pictorial compositions using digital manipulation and CGI technology. Manifesting these works from computer screen to exhibition space, their work often results in highly sculptural forms. Images are printed onto industrial vinyl curtains, and placed onto walls, floors and ceilings.
