About this artwork

«Blue carpet» resembles all the other digital prints of Andrey Bogush, however this is a false impression as the fabric was initially sewn based on the artist’s drawing. It wasn’t applied on the surface, but was put into the core of the object. Still there are many things about «Blue carpet» that resemble Andrey’s work «Proposals». It isn’t complete. Its appearance depends on how you roll it and place it. The queerness of the textures and patterns is the only thing that is transferred from the digital reality into the material one in such a way that it can even be touched.

Andrey Bogush is an artist known for their photography-based works, large installations and performative readings. Bogush explores the possibilities of digital methods of artwork production. Their endless series 'Proposals' embodies the unlimited variety of working with photography. The artist shoots neutral objects, creating a narrative through digital processing: distortion, fragmentation, stratification and metamorphosis. Transformations of a digital image as code are endless, and imprints are the documentation of this process. The variety of materials and sizes of the print in Bogush's works again reflects the constant branching of the ways of working with the image. In their artistic practice, Bogush does not divide the idea and content, process and result.
