About this artwork

In a bare forest, headless bodies roam free and although almost imperceptible, water drenches their lower members. The color palette is pastel but the scene is grim recalling Judith and Holopherne’s story or other myths where creatures were beheaded. Part of her series Beliki Tuman–which roughly translates as The Big Fog from Russian– this work delves on power relations among women and men.

Rocío García’s oeuvre centers around power and our proneness to abuse it, by examining masculinity and homoeroticism, she lays bare the inherent fragility of virile attitudes.
