About this artwork

A small structure sits on stilts, hovering above a body of water. The bar-night club is called Paraiso, and the glow of the people within it echoes this name, enjoying a heavenly time disconnected from earthly worries. The immensity and power of the nature that surrounds them is well and present however, as it itself emanates its own lights and radiance through washes of color painted by Adriana Ciudad. As the title indicates (“Let’s leave the earth, let’s go there), there is a human desire to leave our troubles aside for an evening, finding solace in pure entertainment. However, reality cannot be escaped forever, and it is constantly looming over us. Here, nature is omnipresent; both in the background and foreground, in the fauna inhabiting the forest and waters, and in ourselves as well.
