About this artwork
On an otherwise black and white photograph, three figures glow in color below an umbrella. Behind them stands a shed, with its parts including fencing, chicken wire, spare wooden panneling, and metal roofing sheets. The two adult beings shine a blue color, speckled with yellow spots, while the infant carried in their father’s arms radiates a neon yellow. These people, living precariously, stand outside, showing the dreadful reality of some areas in artist Adriana Ciudad’s native Peru. Communities still live in unstable conditions, with no safety net or guarantee that their own lives are safe tomorrow.
