About this artwork
A piece of wood and assorted ceramics give us the illusion of seeing a gigantic spoon. This item is not uncommon in Katinka Bock’s work for she frequently alludes to it in her oeuvre. Spoons and kitchen cutlery can be associated with everyday life; this piece metamorphoses an item used in our daily lives into a fragmented and fragile sculpture.
With an ever-enigmatic body of work, Katink Bock is fascinated by sites and materials. Texture and our senses are solicited in each of her installations creating a space where her viewership is encouraged to play and imagine new configurations. Objects that were part of everyday life are turned into artworks, through these simple mechanisms, she perpetuates art’s relationship with ready-mades and raw materials.
