About this artwork

A photograph depicting a table of various found objects or materials collected by Diego Bianchi. The metal water tap and the hand sculpture contrast with other objects which intrigue the viewer with ambiguous forms or uses. Altogether they seem to create a surrealist scene; yet, some recognisable details definitely point to abandoned materials and waste.
Since the currency devaluation during the period in Argentina after 2001, the greater visibility of discarded materials had an especially profound impact on Bianchi’s practice. Since then, the artist has been pursuing an ethic of art-making involving reuse of found materials.
