About this artwork
Diego Bianchi is bringing another layer of meaning to his sculptures made of found objects by using foamed polystyrene (or styrofoam), which is one of the most common components of marine litter found floating at sea or washed up along coastlines. Through transforming the styrofoam using varnish, the artist poses a powerful and elegant statement to challenge both the viewer’s perception and conscience.
The artwork was exhibited at My Buenos Aires in La maison rouge in Paris in 2015. It is an indispensable example of Diego Bianchi’s practice coming to maturity in addressing consumption and consumer waste with simple materials and forms.
