About this artwork
Superimposing clothing, paper, and a recycled bottle in layers, Diego Bianchi creates a new artifact that resembles either a hybrid mannequin or a surrealistic human body. Between disguise and provocation, this artwork offers a reflection on the body, the relationship to its environment, on materials, as well as on identity and hybridization.
The work was exhibited in the group show Pervert Vitrine in Paris in 2018 as part of the third edition of Festival OpenMyMed. It is consistent with the artist’s continual practice in realism — exploring how scrap materials can be recontextualized through exposure at any given time.
