About this artwork

This work is part of The Polar Bears Series. The big white bear is an endangered species, and its presence here alongside statements from political or politically connoted figures – among them Barack Obama, Brian Eno, Desmond Tutu, Jane Goodall and Ansel Adams – comes as a manifesto reminding us of their ecological awareness and their commitment in the urgent struggle against global warming.

Desmond Tutu (1931-2021), South African Archbishop received Nobel Peace Prize in 1984.
People of conscience need to break their ties with corporations financing the injustice of climate change. We can, for instance, boycott events, sports teams and media programming sponsored by fossil-fuel energy companies. We can demand that the advertisements of energy companies carry health warnings.
