About this artwork
Christoph Weber, in his series "Objets Externes", removes structures from house facades with silicone, casts them in wax, and then forms them into hermetic-looking cubes which are placed on the floor in the exhibition space. This drawing is a study of the shape and folding composition that the wax surfaces will take as a sculpture.
The intermedial transfer from hard, durable stone, via silicone, to wax, which is easily malleable but just as easily perishable, reflects on the semantic bearing of materials and provokes questions about the dependence and exchange of categories of the public and the private, the exterior and the interior.
