About this artwork
The bright stars filling up the two figures echo with the sole source of light in the image. The ambiguous home-like setting does not inform the time nor any details of the figure’s identity. The phantasmagoric characters and the environment in this ambivalent and dreamlike image play a game of shadows and apparitions.
Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil Le tourbillon de la vie series is significant of his practice as he explores the capacity of art to break the physical limits of time, reflecting on dichotomies like reality and fiction, memory and forgetfulness.
