About this artwork
The overexposure of the light in the center creates a star-like readiating form, which recalls the halo on a religious figure; while the starry sky fills up the form of the central figure. The red lights around create a dramatic stage ambience. The curtains and the table with wine glasses add to an air of mystery to the work’s narrative.
Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil Le tourbillon de la vie series of ambivalent and dreamlike images, where the phantasmagoric characters and the environment play a game of shadows and apparitions. The series shares the name of a famous French song by Jeanne Moreau, featured in the film Jules et Jim.
