About this artwork
The bright stars that fill the two female figures echo with the bright stripe that divides the image into halves. The heavy brutal forms of the urban buildings at the back contrast with the curvy feminine silhouettes of the two figures.
The artwork belongs to Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil, Le tourbillon de la vie series of ambivalent and dreamlike images, where the phantasmagoric characters and the environment play a game of shadows and apparitions, quietude and dramatism. It demonstrates the artist’s reflecting process on dichotomies, like reality and fiction, memory and forgetfulness.
