About this artwork
The three figures in the image are cut out and filled by Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil with dark starry sky. Their clothing details, facial features, and thus their identities become a mystery. There is a path extending to the horizon. It is not clear whether the figures come from or leave for the far end.
It belongs to the series Le tourbillon de la vie of ambivalent and dreamlike images, where the phantasmagoric characters and the environment play a game of shadows and apparitions, quietude and dramatism. It represents the artist’s practice and reflections on dichotomies, like reality and fiction, memory and forgetfulness.
