About this artwork
Among the numerous crossing white lines drawn by the artist are some heads and body parts floating. By erasing the background and other details of the subjects, the artist allows a narrative to be reinvented.
Le silence va plus vite à reculons is a photographic series using press images of violent events or public demonstrations where everything is covered and erased with white lines except faces, bodies, and slogans. The title of the series reads “Silence goes faster backwards”, a phrase that appears in the film Orpheus by renowned French director Jean Cocteau.
