About this artwork
The work shows two women's faces and their hands while everything else in the photograph has been covered with white lines by the artist. The viewer is then free to reinvent any narratives for the image.
Le silence va plus vite à reculons is a photographic series using press images of violent events or public demonstrations where everything is covered and erased with white lines except faces, bodies, and slogans. The title of the series reads “Silence goes faster backwards”, a phrase that appears in the film Orpheus by renowned French director Jean Cocteau.
