About this artwork

This work on paper by Chto Delat is part of the series Reflecting Partisan Songspiel and is connected to their film Partisan Songspiel. A Belgrade Story (2009). The drawings were included in a newspaper that was released by the collective as part of the installative presentation of the film. The film approaches topics of forced eviction and uneven political and economic forces via a concrete example of an incident in the city of Belgrade in 2009.

The work reflects on the central messages from the film, which addresses questions of political oppression, the alienation within oppressed minorities, the usual disagreements inside the left communities as well as the establishment of a horizon of historical consciousness.
