About this artwork
When we say that things grow we are giving them a character of living entity, breaking the barriers between what we understand by the world of the living and the world of the dead. What would change in our day to day if we saw reality from this animistic filter?
The monochrome pieces are a superposition of layers of drawings and photographs that refer to the growth of different terrestrial kingdoms (plant, mineral, animal) through images generated by the interaction with an algorithm called Lindenmayer System designed by the Hungarian botanist Aristid Lindenmayer. By negotiating with the variables, this system automatically generates two-dimensional shapes based on the fractures. Interaction with this web-hosted algorithm allows the creation of speculative structures based on nature but without water, without time, without matter.
The superimposition of drawings and the wefts that appear in them refer to that tangled and complex panorama that is the world we inhabit.
We grow, the moss grows, the rocks grow on this planet.
