About this artwork
This work is one of the iterations of "Temple of Love", a series of works inspired by Roland Barthes' "Fragments d'un discours amoureux". Gaëlle Choisne explores love as a form of resistance and a catalyst for courage and transgression. Each iteration refers to a chapter of Barthes' book. Constructed as spatial and sculptural arrangements, each element offers a delicate balance between shelter and containment, between the organic and the artificial. The flags were inspired by the political banners used during elections in Haiti and were made in Port-au-Prince by graphic designer James Ford Auguste.
