About this artwork

This canvases display some strange drawings that seem to escape from any logic of representation. These animals were imagined by the artist's sister when she was a child and now extends on a larger canvas and becomes a gesture to bring her to the present. In other words, here the exercise of memory is that of repeatedly drawing on the canvas, over and over again, the object of her sister's fantasy.
Cristina Umaña Durán takes fabrics, bed sheets, on which she prints, draws and transports images so typical of childhood, but which are also common to dreams, memory and imagination.
