About this artwork

Coined by Ricardo Basbaum in the 1990’s, NBP is a broad umbrella term for complex investigations of subjectivity involving drawings, diagrams, objects, installations, texts and manifestos. This historical moment coincided with the aftermath of the military dictatorship in Basbaum’s native Brazil, the great transformation of the world order following the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the rise of a globally networked reality.

These manifestos serve as guidance and invitation to engage with a simple steel polygon object both inside and outside the gallery. NBP has been introduced into communal dinners, sports games, domestic cleaning, dance choreography, landscaping, tattooing and industrial fabrication. The artwork is a meditative inquiry of the possibilities for artistic practice, how one participates in it, and what its potential effects are.
