About this artwork
Long thin strips of black produce a geometric, painterly effect – surprising, since it’s simply rolls of gaffer tape. The material itself, which is used in stage productions to bundle and secure cables and mark positions, is supposed to be hidden. According to Naama Tsabar, it represents the labor behind the experience.
Tsabar uses sound, both conceptually and its material universe, to expose the various social and economic power relationships at play in art venues, the music industry, and other cultural spheres. Her art is an escape from the masculine world and an attempt to destabilize the systems of power and hierarchy dominating the creative world.
