About this artwork

In this series of works, presented in his solo show "Anima" (2015) at In Situ fabienne leclerc, the space on canvases or papers are animated by hybrid and mysterious creatures, in perpetual movement and tension, oscillating from euphoria to threat, without being able to discern the true nature of their relationship. In his practice, which seeks to give substance to his spiritual states, the artist also allows his "demons" to contaminate all the surfaces that present themselves to him. "Anima" is a project where the idea of "breath" as an expression of the soul holds a preponderant place. Animism is indeed an essential reference in the work as in the daily life of Dominique Zinkpè.
