Rivers, concentrates of history of peoples and civilizations, become one of the main vectors of the diffusion of pollutants, a symbol of our excesses and our inverted relationship to the world.

Biography

Nicolas Floc’h's work, spanning installations, photography, films, sculptures, and performances, explores an era of transition marked by themes of flow, disappearance, and regeneration. Over the past decade, he has focused on underwater habitats, creating documentary photographs that engage with global change and offer a fresh perspective on underwater landscapes. His black-and-white images, shot in natural light and printed in carbon, avoid exoticism and human-centric views, while his color works address ocean health and biogeochemical cycles in the Anthropocene. Rooted in long-term projects, scientific research, and personal encounters, Floc’h’s work emphasizes evolutionary processes and remains deeply connected to the real world.
