Promoting Child Literacy in Palestine
Organization information
Middle East Children's Alliance
Location: Berkeley, United States of America
Summary
The Middle East Children's Alliance partners with community organizations in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem to set up children's libraries and provide an array of educational activities including storytelling, creative writing, and reading buddies. The public schools in Palestine are overcrowded and emphasize memorization over critical thinking. These libraries are a great way to encourage love of learning and to develop new skills in reading and writing.
