L'Auberge des Migrants in Calais
Organization information
L'Auberge des Migrants
Location: Calais, France
Summary
Since 2008, L’Auberge des Migrants has been working with exiles in Calais and the North of France, providing material and food aid, support and defence of human rights. Our goal is to provide emergency material aid, but also to fight to promote the dignity of people in exile, through our actions. Today, our association plays an umbrella role by bringing together in its warehouse 8 specialized associations that act on the coast.
Our teams prepare and distribute food and material donations from our warehouse located in Calais. We do not receive any public subsidy: these are the donations that allow us to continue our actions independently. Any donation is used to set up humanitarian aid and promote the dignity of people in exile.
An international community: this allows us to refocus our actions and strengthen our capacities to act in an area that has expanded due to the proliferation of makeshift camps. Our teams travel to Calais and Grande-Synthe every day, and we regularly send material and food aid to Norrent-Fontes, Steenvoord, Tatinghem, Paris and Athens.
The Auberge des Migrants and its partners constitute a large network of volunteers and employees based in Calais and active in the region. In 2017, 118,000 hours of volunteering were carried out on our actions. Valued in euros, this amounts to 1.3 million euros of voluntary contribution.
