Summary
Ten years after the start of the Syrian crisis, humanitarian needs remain urgent: hostilities, new and prolonged displacement, spontaneous returns and the erosion of community resilience. The Syrian crisis remains one of the largest and most complex crises globally and continues to have a profound impact on all aspects of the lives of the affected population. Protection remains a priority: gender-based violence is a major concern and the return of displaced persons to their areas of origin occurs in conditions of insecurity, through processes that do not guarantee respect for the dignity of individuals. The health sector is greatly affected and the consequences of the conflict are extremely heavy considering that health needs were significant even before the conflict.
INTERSOS focuses its intervention in two integrated areas: health and protection. Alongside child protection and psychosocial support activities aimed at the most vulnerable, INTERSOS assists the four static centres and five mobile teams in the provision of PPE, equipment and necessary medical supplies.
