Summary
The province of Foggia is one of the poorest in Italy and at the forefront of migrant labour exploitation. Since the beginning of the migration flows in Europe, this area has been interested in a strong presence of seasonal workers, gathered in informal settings where sanitation and hygiene conditions are a serious health hazard.
Since 2018, INTERSOS has consolidated its proximity medicine services thanks to mobile clinics able to reach these informal settings: our intervention targets the most vulnerable and marginalised, migrants and informal workers.
The main activities of this holistic healthcare assistance are medical visits and health service guidance to connect with public health authorities, health promotion on risk factors emerging, self-care and health services awareness raising with a global health approach.
INTERSOS ensures access to healthcare to the most vulnerable in this area of Southern Italy, guaranteeing and advocating for the right to health of each human being.
