Farmer Bridges : a project to ensure the transmission, training and installation of regenerative agriculture farmers in France
Organization information
SOL (Alternatives Agroécologiques et Solidaires)
Location: Paris, France
Summary
In France, the agricultural sector is affected by the current and upcoming disappearance of hundreds of thousands of farmers. Yet, given the need to shift our agricultural system towards a fair and environmentally friendly model, we need farmers more than ever.
It is therefore essential to facilitate the installation of future farmers, especially those who do not come from the agricultural sector, who represent more than half of the current installations. Though, the path to installation is often complex, as there is a lack of adequate information, support and training.
The Farmer Bridges project aims to address these inadequacies and facilitate the installation of farmers by developing an innovative program of farmer companionship enabling future farmers to be trained through practical and immersive training courses on hosting farms and promoting the intergenerational transmission of knowledge and know-how. Additionally, since 2022, SOL is developing an information platform on the existing support mechanisms. The platform is regularly updated and enriched with new digital communication materials. The objective is to reach 20,000 visits/year in 2023-2024.
