Summary
Soleterre has been working in Ukraine since 2003, providing medical treatment, accommodation and psychological support to children with cancer and their families in Kiev and Lviv.
Since February 24th 2022 Kiev is under attack! There are many civilians on the run, the authorities advise those who are remaining to immediately find a safe shelter.
For children with cancer it was a tragic day: surgical interventions were suspended, and also chemotherapy sessions had to be rescheduled. The priority now is to provide a safe shelter for children and their families, and ensure the continuity in medical treatment for cancer.
Soleterre together with Zaporuka Foundation, our local partner, has taken immediate action to:
- Provide a safe shelter to children with cancer and to their families in Kiev and evacuate those able to move to a safer area of Ukraine closer to the eastern border.
- Ensure continuity in medical care, especially for the children undergoing chemotherapy treatment;
- Guarantee flexible and immediate support to the 3 hospitals we cooperate with: the Institute of Cancer in Kiev, the Neurosurgery Centre in Kiev, the Regional Paediatric Hospital in Lviv;
- Be ready to host people in need in our facilities.
We need your help not to leave children with cancer alone and continue to provide them with the care they need.
