BIG Against Breast Cancer: Accelerating breast cancer research internationally
Organization information
BIG Against Breast Cancer
Location: Brussels, Belgium
Summary
BIG (Breast International Group) was founded in 1999 by Prof. Martine Piccart and the late Prof. Aron Goldhirsch with the aim to facilitate and accelerate breast cancer research around the world. BIG members are research groups tied to many 1000s of hospitals and breast cancer experts. By working together, they avoid unnecessary duplication of effort and waste of time and resources. And they make rapid progress against the disease.
For over 20 years, BIG has been conducting global breast cancer clinical trials and research programs. Many are considered to be landmark, introducing particularly innovative designs, contributing to significant breakthroughs, or paving the way towards more personalized treatment of breast cancer.
BIG against breast cancer is BIG's dedicated philanthropy unit. It conducts vital fundraising to help finance BIG's academic clinical trials and research programs that have no commercial interest but are crucial for women and men with breast cancer.
