Awake awareness about the protection of the ocean and plastic pollution with the SeaCleaners
Organization information
The Sea Cleaners
Location: Paris, France
Summary
More than 9 million tons of plastic waste are dumped into the sea every year, equivalent to one garbage truck per minute. It takes 450 years for a plastic bottle to degrade. When immersed under water, this time is almost infinite.
While 100,000 marine mammals are killed each year, 90% of seabirds have already ingested plastic and if nothing is done, this figure will reach 99% by 2050.
Understanding and awareness lead to action! Through our awareness-raising actions and tools, we pass on knowledge about ocean protection and plastic pollution in a fun and interactive way to inspire all citizens and encourage behaviour change.
Help us develop our schools’ program, our event activities and our volunteers’ assets and training worldwide.
Created in 2016 by French-Swiss navigator and explorer Yvan Bourgnon, the NGO The SeaCleaners offers concrete solutions against plastic pollution, both at sea and on land, through corrective and preventive activities.
