Central to my practice is the making of images with discordant layers of meaning that often address the issue of merging life and art.
Biography
In an expansive exploration of art in everyday life, Bernat Daviu utilizes all techniques at hand to create a reciprocal relationship with the art and viewer. The activation of painted artworks, the ambiguity of the inside and outside of them, and giving special attention to the raw humanity that surrounds the experience of a work of art builds a dynamic social encounter.
The idea that an artwork is not fully itself if it hasn’t been activated is one that started to be explored in the 1960’s, notably by minimalist and conceptual artists like Franz Erhard Walther. The physicality is thus brought back into the work, and encountered in different manners each time.
Sonia Delaunay is a precursor of all-encompassing art, with projects ranging from immense canvas paintings, to clothes and car designs. She thus creates an englobing sensation, seeing the ordinary through a musical lens.
